Aberfan Disaster, Wales, October 21, 1966
In the fall of 1966, a terrible failure took place in the small town of Aberfan in Wales. A failure that killed nearly 150-and the devastation would not end when the last victim was recovered from the rubble. It would take more than 20 years for real closure for the families affected.
While I really wanted to provide some photos here on the episode pages, getting permission to use someone else’s picture is either nearly impossible, or costs money. So I will simply direct you elsewhere on the intra-nets and you can investigate further, or not, as you see fit.
An article at http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/article/37716060/aberfan-school-pupils-learn-about-the-tragedy-in-their-village-50-years-ago has an amazing photo clearly showing the destruction of the slip.
